Over the years, NJS4E has received exclusive MP3s and new music from artists such as Damion Hall, Guy, Teddy Riley, Ike Lee III, Jeff Redd and more...but in 2008 we'll be moving forward with even more clips so that our visitors can check out what's being worked on NOW from artists and producers who have a link to the New Jack and/or Hip-Hop Soul Eras.

Harvard graduate Ryan Leslie has been on NJS4E's radar screen since we heard his 2003 demo for the song"Hot 2 Nite" which would emerge from New Edition in 2004. Since then, Ryan Leslie has come and gone from Tommy Mottola's Casanova records, to Sean "Diddy" Combs Bad Boy records.



He has produced songs for Britney Spears, Loon, and a certified hit for Bad Boy artist Cassie
(2006's summer smash "Me And U"). This dude has been on his grind for a while now, and in 2008, this could be his year. If not for the song "Diamond Girl," it could be for another joint up his sleeve, called "Rescue U."

In any event, Ryan Leslie is today's incarnation of the New Jack mindset.
That is a spirit of positivity, energy, and fun.

This guy was clearly listeningwhen Janet Jackson was preaching education and "no color lines"
on her New Jack masterpiece, 1989's Rhythm Nation 1814.

We are featuring a mixtape impressario and music personality by the name of Damon "Hasan" Johnson. This artist/producer began his career at a young age working on albums such as Mary J. Blige's "What's The 411" and Prince Markie Dee's "Free" LP.




These days, Hasan has a relationship with the NBA and is putting out mixtapes featuring
either new, or re-worked editions of interesting tracks by some of the biggest names in
music today. NJS4E is featuring two of those tracks below for a preview --
one by the one and only Janet Jackson, and the other featuring current lady du jour, Rihanna.
